Acupuncture Can Help Treat Infertility?

Can acupuncture actually cure infertility?Find out Friday, March, 22nd as Charlotte View interviews Acupuncturist and Oriental Medicine specialist, Margot Dragon of the Whitespire Center  of Oriental Medicine. Margot has a masters degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, from the American College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Houston, Texas, is certified in Genetics and Biomedical research from UCLA and NIH, and is a licensed acupuncturist in North Carolina.   Her training includes over 3000 hours of lecture in both Oriental and Western medicine, along with herbal and clinical practice.
According to the American Fertility Association website, "Some studies show that acupuncture can help fertility by reducing the effects of stress and balancing the hormones. It may increase blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, increase the uterine lining, prevent the uterus from contracting, lessen the side effects of drugs used in IVF, strengthen the immune system, decrease chances of miscarriage, and improve quality, quantity, and motility of sperm."
So who is a good candidate for acupuncture to treat infertility? The website, Fertility Pro Registry, lists those dealing with the following conditions below as possible candidates:

So, I ask you again, will acupuncture cure infertility? Well, Dr. Eric Surrey, president of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) in an article for Foxnews.com stated, "there is absolutely nothing to show that it's harmful if it's done with a trained and appropriately skilled acupuncturist," [and that], "It's a notion that nearly everyone in the medical field — whether they believe in needles and Qi or not — seems to agree upon.".

Listen this Friday, March 22nd as Charlotte View asks Margot Dragon how acupuncture may be able to help you have a baby.

Mar 15 -Charlotte View: UNCC's Collegiate Recovery Community Program for Students with Addictions 03/15 by Charlotte View Internet Radio | Blog Talk Radio

Mar 15 -Charlotte View: UNCC's Collegiate Recovery Community Program for Students with Addictions 03/15 by Charlotte View Internet Radio | Blog Talk Radio

How do you stay sober while in college? How do you stick to your lifestyle of sobriety when everyone around you is drinking or doing drugs and doesn't understand why it's a problem for you? How do you admit to your friends and family that you have an addiction problem and need constant support from someone....anyone? And...how can they actually help you?
Answers to these questions, as well as support for your addiction, are now offered at the University of North Carolina's Charlotte campus through their Collegiate Recovery Cummunity (CRC). It provides a nurturing, affirming environment in which students recovering from addictive disorders can successfully pursue academic, personal and professional goals for the purpose of enhancing their quality of life and becoming productive members of society.
During this show you'll hear CRC's  Marketing Specialist at UNCC, Carol Rose; former UNCC student Hillary Belk; and current UNCC student, Chelsea Schmidt talk about how this remarkable program, that began with one student reaching out for help, has grown to a complete support system for all students on campus struggling with an addictionYou'll here these two students' inspiring stories of recovery and how it helped Carol find help for her own daughter while in college, and how Carol dealt with the struggles of having a child with an addiction.
This show is about hope and empowering yourself to "stick with the plan" despite negative influences from a student body who "just doesn't get it". Tune in by clicking the link below, to hear their wonderful stories, learn about UNCC's new CRC program, and how you can help.

Below are a few statistics about addiction:

The Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) classify underage drinking as a public health crisis. Alcohol is the most commonly abused drug among America’s youth, more than nicotine and illegal drugs, and people aged 12 to 20 drink 11% of all the booze consumed in the US. Most of this alcohol—more than 90%, in fact—is consumed in binges. In 2008, underage drinkers made 190,000 emergency department visits for alcohol-related reasons.
What happens when you are the parent of a teen and you suspect he/she has an addiction? Or when you are a teen and you know something is not right with you but you are too afraid to recognize it? What if your teen no longer lives with you but he is at College and you are too far to help?
The most obvious indications of drug or alcohol abuse are signs of intoxication, smelling alcohol or drugs on their breath or clothing, or finding alcohol, drugs, or drug paraphernalia.  Changes in your child’s previous behavior can be another important sign:
  • School performance such as decline in grades, decreased motivation to complete assignments, lack of interest in school activities, or skipping classes.
  • Personal habits such as sleeping much more or much less, change in activity level, increase or decrease in appetite, or hygiene.
  • Behavior and/or mood changes such as increased irritability, aggression, disregard for rules, mood swings, depression, decreased motivation, expressing suicidal thoughts or behaviors.
  • Decreased involvement in positive social activities such as team sports or school activities, and/or loss of interest in a favorite hobby.
  • Association with a new peer group, gang involvement, or legal problems.
